I had never encountered one of these before.
While meeting up with for a minute, we found a few of these large land snails. Unfortunately, two of them were dead and dried up on a fence, but this one was alive. This one is at least three times the size of the biggest terrestrial snail I've ever found in the wild, and I love the coloration of it too.
As far as I know, there are certainly much larger ones here in the US, but this Chocolate-Band Snail (obania vermiculata) is our largest so far. We were certainly excited to find it, and here are some recent photos. Enjoy!
