Last week we had exceptionally warm weather with temperatures of 20 degrees Celsius here in the south of the Netherlands. I think this salamander came to life a little too early. He was looking for a warm spot under the doorpost. We put it in the straw, close to a ditch.
It was only 3 centimetres long and I think they are cold-blooded creatures. When it starts freezing again, the salamander will not survive.
Want to read more about this little creature? It is written in Dutch. http://www.warf.nl/kleine_watersalamander
Have a good one!!
