The sub classes of Super class Mammalia.
How are the things going on with you on steemit? Guys, I hope everything is fine over there. Today we are going to look at the sub classes of super class Mammalia.
The sub class Mammalia has 3 sub classes which are as under,
1) Sub class Prototheria or Monotremata.
They are egg laying mammals and have many reptilian characters like, they have cloaca and lay eggs.e.g Duck bill platypus and spiny anteater.
Spiny aneater.
1) Sub class Metatheria.
They are also called marsupials or pouched mammals because they have pouch on their bellies with mammary glands. Their young ones are born in a very immature condition, e.g Kangaroo, Koala, Opossum.etc.
Kangaroo.
1) Sub class Eutheria.
They are placental mammals, the placenta is the organ of nourishing the young ones in the uterus till the birth. These mammals have long gestation period, e.g, mice 21 days, dogs 60 days, cattle 260 days, man and monkeys 280 days and elephants have 22 months.
