There are plenty of small bays and rivers along the Oregon coast for day tripping. Since I now put a blow-up pillow under my knees, I am much more comfortable.
Kayaking can be a long sit, I prefer to be settled in a good non-tightening posture. Within reach is my water, camera, umbrella, sponge, food, and extra clothing.
How I love being on the water. My earliest times were inner tubes and floating logs, then rubber rafts, rowing over to Ross Island's Blue Heron Rookery from John's Landing in Portland and crossing part of Lake Powell in the wind and many small high mountain lakes. Oh how I wanted to back-pack a raft into High Mountain Cascadian and Wallow waters. I just knew fishing would be great out in the middle. Lake fishing can be a real challenge otherwise.
