We occasionally see lone rabbits around our house and neighborhood. I think they are Eastern Cottontails. This one was about 12 inches high and probably weighed a couple of pounds. They are solitary animals and tend to be intolerant of each other. I have only ever seen one at a time. They are active at twilight and through the night, and are vegetarian. They have a very keen sense of sight, sound, and hearing but only live for about three years. They are food for hawks, foxes and other small carnivores.
