The Hunting Lodge of the Heir to the Throne – Neo-Gothic Chateau Konopiste was used as the summer residence of the heir to the throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand d'Este, whose assassination in Sarajevo triggered the World War First. The archduke was a passionate hunter, and a fascinating exhibition of his hunting trophies is on display at the chateau. The collection of historical weapons and arms is the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic. A game preserve and a wonderful park with abundant exotic and indigenous tree species border the chateau
