This last weekend Stefan and i stayed in Vienna for some wildlife photography over the weekend. It was a pretty hot weekend and it was very hot with some short rain showers that cooled down the weather just a little. We visited several places directly in the City for some urban wildlife photography. Because Vienna is so beautiful and has so many parks and green spots in the City you can find several animals and birds there with ease. Now in summer it is much more difficult because of the warm weather.
We were also spotting some new places we read in a nice book that describes the animal world in Vienna and some spots already disappeared because new houses were built where former there was a forest and on other spots the weather was simply too hot to find something. One of these spots is a place near a school where you can find and see several foxes. The spot with the foxes is so popular that the children of the school nearby paint pictures of the fox and hang it on a wall. But the weather was much too hot and the fox didn't show up for us.
But a little outside of Vienna at the "Bisamberg" we were lucky and found several nice butterflies. Because the weather was already hot and the butterflies were already very mobile it was difficult to take some pictures with the Macro lens. So I had to use my 150-600 mm lens to get some nice shots of them. I tried with the Macro but every time I came too close they flew away. Nearly impossible! But still i think the results with the zoom lens are pretty good. Of course, you cannot see the fine hair structures and everything is not so crisp when using the Zoom lens instead of the Macro but otherwise i would have any single acceptable picture.

I am not so good at identifying the correct Butterfly subspecies, because I didn't take so many pictures of butterflies yet. I know some of the most common ones but I have to admit this is a topic I didn't put so much effort in till now. Maybe I will learn a bit more about them in the future, if I hang out a little more with my friends from Vienna that are totally into macrophotography and know almost every butterfly, insect that can be found here in Austria.
But anyway I know here on Hive, so he will correct me if necessary. :-) He does very nice pictures of butterflies so check out his profile here on hive!

Since i had my macro lens with me but I wasn't successful on butterfly photography with it, I had to do some other macro shots. So i looked for flowers and other insects I can take a picture of. One of these results is this bumblebee collecting pollen from a violet flower. I was again very lucky to find so many butterflies and insects. But still I need to improve my Macro Skills a lot to get some
