The tufted duck or tufted pochard (Aythya fuligula) is a small diving duck with a population of close to one million birds, found in northern Eurasia. I really like the male tufted duck because of the beautiful yellow eyes taht really stand out to the black head of the duck, on the brown females it doesn't look that good. There are several places in Austria where you can find the tufted duck and especially now in winter it is one of the few bird that you can easily find on rivers and lakes now.
