While I was in Costa Rica I was lucky enough to come across quite a few different species of monkey. Most were found on our monkey surveys, but a few even came into our camp.
The first few pictures are of Howler Monkeys. These were the hardest to spot and it took me a few weeks to get my first picture of one. The same can't be said about hearing them. They pretty much woke me up most mornings with a really eerie call that carries for a long way.
The next monkey was the Spider Monkey. This was even more elusive, but I did manage to find a mother and baby in a tree on one of the walks
The final 2 varieties of monkey were far more common and I saw them quite often. The first one is the White-Faced Capuchin which was quite a cheeky little monkey and often came into the camp and even out of the trees towards us. We also suspect that this was the monkey that sometimes stole our food when we were asleep!!!
Finally and probably my favourite is the Squirrel Monkey. Again quite a mischevious little monkey who also regularly came into our camp.
All the pictures were taken with a Canon Powershot SX120 IS
