American Robin
Look at that cute face!
While foraging for juniper berries, this beautiful bird collected some snow on its beak.
Notice all the berries on the ground. A portion of them will have dropped from the tree on their own but many are discarded by birds. After picking a berry off the tree, a bird will determine if it is good. If it is, it gets eaten; if not, it is tossed. Because of this, foraging on the ground may seem to be inefficient. For whatever reason, I saw many birds using this tactic.
