The one thing I did not mention in my Day 3 Antarctic Diaries on the M/V Island Sky ~ https://steemit.com/blog/@thomasjmitchell/day-3-antarctic-diaries-on-the-m-v-island-sky ~ was that I did in fact sight Orca today ~ Small Type B orca OR Gerlach Killer Whales to be exact. However, due to their location in shallow waters our ship was unable to attempt to interact with them, which was a huge bummer...
BUT I CLAIM IT AS A SUCCESS!!!
Let me be clear, nothing & I mean nothing makes my heart sing more than when I 100% realize I have sighted an orca. It makes me smile, I feel panicked and I react terrible by somewhat yelling it out aloud when in the bridge. This is typically followed by me apologizing to the Chief officer, Jose, as he gives me a sideways glance, as if to remind me to use my inside voice.

Older and harder than life and more impartial, the eye that watched before there was an ocean.”
