Our dogs are quite frankly, a huge part of our lives, not just pets but family. They chase away predators and guard the land. They share our meals and provide unconditional love. They bring so much joy and colour to our lives.
Mischa "Moon Howler" is a Golden Retriever / Husky with a dash of something else. She was rescued from a small community called Wekweti, in the Northwest Territories of Canada. She had a rocky start to life, born in the dead of winter, outdoors on the snow. Thankfully a generous soul rescued them and had them flown to the SPCA in Yellowknife. She lives for patrolling the homestead and all of its acres. Soulful, expressive and loving, Mischa is a beautiful dog.
Molly goes by numerous aliases including: J-Mol, Molly Wog & Chicken Killer. She is also a rescue. A "mistake" according to a breeder who had a slip up. She is a Golden Retriever/Husky cross. She had worms and other issues when we brought her home, and did not come from a clean environment. She likes to sit and watch over us at all times and is protector of "her family". Molly is a goof ball extrordinaire and loves to sleep upside down with her legs in the air.
I love our homestead but I am pretty sure these two love it even more. It's the perfect life for a dog.
If you are thinking of getting dogs, seriously consider adopting from an animal shelter. It's the best decision we ever made.
