Today, I'd like for you to meet our dog! She is a fully white Japanese Akita that we named Mirakuru. We chose her name because we really liked the season of Arrow where "Mirakuru" was used a lot and it fit perfectly since it's the Japanese word for miracle!
Such a cute puppy!!!
Which one is the puppy??
A sweet cuddle toy!
Sweet face!
Kuru with both of her parents as a baby. She was born in Texas and immigrated to Panama. Her parents were born in Japan and immigrated to the USA.
Why an Akita?
When we decided to move to Panama, we wanted to bring with us a dog that would be a good guard dog for our family and home. My husband did some research and found out that Japanese Akitas are very loyal and even have been used as Japanese imperial guard dogs in the past. Our dog is so loyal, when we recently went out of town for a few days, she didn't want to let in our friends to feed and walk her! They had to lasso her from the door and feed her hotdogs to make her not growl at them! She just loves our kids though and is a good fit for our family.
Now a big girl at 1 year and 5 months old!
My, what big ears you have!
She required a modified large crate to fly to Panama. Her ears point up too tall for a regular crate!
This is my happy face!!
White Kitty, Orange Kitty and Mirakuru - 3 happy pets!

If you're interested in a movie about Akitas, check out Hachi with Richard Gere. It is available on Netflix and is really good, but be sure to keep a tissue handy!!
