Good morning Steemians! How are you today?
You know, when I'm looking at my dog while she is playing or sleeping peacefully by my side I feel only tremendous love for her, I will never ever let anyone hurt her.
There is so much cruelty going on in the world, for instance: Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China where thousands of innocent dogs and cats are being slaughteredπ
Zoos also still have a place in our world, where many animals are held captive.
The first time in my life when I went to the zoo was here in Hangzhou,I was at a mature age.
I was sure very excited and impressed with it. I loved all the animals and it was amazing to see them for the first time,
but at the same time it made me very sad. As big as the zoo territory was, animals were not being treated properly, it was not their natural habitat.
I've seen a big orangutan climbing a tree in the zoo out in the open for sometime, until the zoo employee came with a big stick and asked orangutan to come down. The animal wanted to stay for a bit longer but the guy started hitting on the tree threatening and frightening orangutan.Big fearless animal seemed so powerless and scared, it came down quickly and was taken back to the cage.
Animals are extremely smart and sensitive creatures, I can't imagine how it feels for them to be placed in a cage and have people come and stare. It might sound funny but animals do have feelings and we have no right to hurt them. They should live a free life and be happy.
We should not let our kids go there, pretending that they can learn something and let them see how people treat animals. There are other, better ways to get kids acquainted with wild animals.
If I had a power I would set all the animals from zoos and aquariums free, shut down this kind of places and won't allow anyone to have exotic animals as pets. If you want to seem and feel "cool" you can surely not do that at innocent animals' expense.
We can not be selfish and keep rare, exotic, common, any animals for our entertainment purposes, we have passed that thing a long time ago, there should be no more slavery neither for men, nor for animals.
When I traveled to Thailand first time and had a chance to snorkel and see beautiful fish in their natural habitat it was one of the most amazing experiences I had, because I knew it was their home, they behaved just like they are supposed to, they weren't afraid - they were just curious.
In my opinion having and visiting zoos is the most obvious cruel thing we can do to the animals and yet it is so very accepted and still welcomed by the society. It is ridiculous!
I hope people who read this post will agree with me and there will be less cruelty, less people supporting zoos and aquariums and more people against it who will be willing to contribute to their shutting.
What do you guys think?Should it be stopped and forbidden? π«
