Grimpoteuthis, also called the Dumbo octopus, is a genus of pelagic umbrella octopus, so named for the prominent ear-like fins which characteristically protrude from the mantle just above the eyes and which give a vague resemblance to the ears of Walt Disney's flying elephant Dumbo.
