Today I want to share with you the joy that hairless cats bring into my life.
It has been almost seven months since my parents got themselves two cutest sphynx kittens. I knew it was going to be cozier in the house with cats around but I have never imagined it would be that nice. I have read before that hairless cats are a little bit more sociable and friendly then 'regular' cats; they were even compared to dogs.
If I would have to compare them to dogs I would say they are Dog 2.0 version - they basically take care of themselves (not that you do not want to take care of these warm velvety creatures).
They love to keep warm.
And I love to cover them in all kinds of blankets. I tried dressing them up but they seemed awkward in the clothes so I stopped. Their body temperature is a bit higher than normal (around 38-40 °C or 101-103 °F) and to sustain it, they need to eat a lot of food.
They love any food.
Since we got them, they would want to try anything we would eat. Of course I thought they will be like the cat we used to have when I was younger, only cat food and milk. But I was impressed to see that these two would try everything, from tomatoes to bananas. I am still convinced that they eat better than me.
They love to play.
Play with toys, plants, cables, keys, earbuds, hair, glasses, shoe laces, ... They are unstoppable and usually come to life in the evening when it is bed time. When I come for a visit first thing I have to do is put all the stuff away to a room where it would stay safe. It is not that they are annoying and they are ruining things on purpose. This is because they are very curious.
They love to jump and climb.
And high too! My moms and one of her cats morning routine is brushing teeth where mom brushes her teeth and the cat jumps to her shoulders straight from the floor. I could not believe it until it happened to me. They are so strong and flexible.
They love the sun.
It looks like they are in trans when the morning sun shines through the living room windows. Both closed eyed and keeping still towards the sun rays. It is not recommended for hairless cats to go outside because they are sensitive to the sun just like we are; and I am really not that desperate to go to the pet store and try to find cat sunscreen.
They love to pretend to be alarm clocks.
When they figure out your sleeping pattern you will never be late for work again. My dad wakes up early every morning to go to work and when it comes close to wake up time, cats go to wait (and meow) in front of the bedroom. It was funny at the beginning I believe, but then they found out about his afternoon naps also. Unfortunately the ringtone is non negotiable.
They love everyone.
And this was one of the most surprising things to me. They are not afraid of visitors. Curiosity and excitement to play with something new always wins. They make such an adorable hosts.
They love to be spoiled.
This is why the two cuties are patiently waiting in the morning to have their eyes and ears wiped with warm water. It is not any problem for them to hold still while I am clipping their claws - well, one is more calm than the other but they are both used to this routine. Bathing is not necessary often as they are pretty good at cleaning themselves.
I could go on and on about what they love and what I love about them.
I am certain that (at least one) sphynx cat will be keeping me company when I move out of my student apartment and save up (or earn on Steemit ;)). It was an easy decision to make and I can not wait for that day. In the meantime I will be visiting these two cats (and of course my parents) regularly.
Thank you for your time, please share your cat or dog (or any pet) story with me I would love to hear from you!!!
