Hi Steemians!
I am here with another post dedicated to my recent trip to Costa Rica. This time around, I would like to show you a few photos of sloths that I took there. The sloth is one of the symbols of this Central American country and I must say that meeting these chilled guys face-to-face in the Costa Rican wilderness was one of the coolest things I have ever experienced.
The sloth only comes down from a tree once a week to defecate. So yeah, this guy was just about to do his business :D
This is how close I actually got to him. He was just amazing! :)
After he did what he needed to, he "rushed" back to the tree. Just checking whether I was still looking :D
This is how a baby sloth looks like. Photo taken in a sloth sanctuary near Puerto Viejo.
Another sloth we met there. We saw this guy trying to cross a road when we were on our way to a national park with a guide. The guide gently grabbed the poor fella and transported him safely to the other side of the road.
Here are a few fun facts about sloths I learnt in Costa Rica:
Sloths are very slow and clumsy on land but they are excellent swimmers.
They spend most of the day sleeping.
They can turn their head almost 360 degrees.
They are related to anteaters and armadillos.
They may remain hanging from tree even after death.
Hopefully your learnt something new in the post and fell in love with these awkward smiling furry bundles :) Do you have any experience with the sloth? Let me know in the comments and feel free to share and vote!
