I still think that the cheetah is the fastest animals in the world. I was wrong. There are also many species that are much faster than cheetah. This is a list:
A lion has a top speed of 50 mph.
The springbok and pronghorn barely outrun it by 55 mph.
The ostrich top out at 60 mph.
Sailfish sails along at 68 mph.
Here’s the cheetah, topping out at 75 mph
After the marlin, we have to take to the sky, leaving land and sea behind (They are just slowing us down anyway).
When this spur-winged goose hits 88 mph, you’ll see some serious speed.
The horsefly is the fastest insect, at 90 mph.
The Mexican free-tailed bat is the fastest mammal at 99 mph.
From here on out, it’s bird country.
The swift fly at about 100 mph.
But the golden eagle easily doubles that, at 200 mph. that has to be the fastest, right?
NOPE, says the peregrine falcon hitting speeds of 242 mph in its hunting dives.
Just a reminder, Usain Bolt’s top speed is only 28 mph.
