It kind of sucks sometimes, no longer having a camera. As much as I love being in and enjoying the moment, I also would like to catch a few of them in photos. Just now, I have come in after being with the two horses that graze on the land. They are a mother and daughter and they were here when I first moved on. I love having horses and around and of course the donkey who I have built a special bond with.
(So yes the photos in this post are from a few months back, I would love to be sharing more recent ones, but I have to wait for a camera first before I can do that.)
One of the horses is always tied up to a tree, while the other horse, which is the mother ,gets to move freely. I always feel so bad for the daughter and we do try and move her around the land so that she has enough to eat. But everything is so dry now, that it is difficult to find fresh food for her.
So my friend and I decided to go and get her some fresh canar, the stuff that is still very green and soft on top. They love it and we just so happened to cut a load yesterday, as we are using it to build a natural wall, or more like a screen. So that we gain more privacy, from the road that runs alongside the property.
The daughter with her foal, this photo was taken when I first moved onto the land. Her foal has since been sold on.
So off we went with a light to find her some juicy pieces of canar. The mother horse followed us, super curious about what we are doing. It' a clear night and under the moonlight sky, this magnificent white horse, looks so majestic, she practically glows. The sight of her, takes my breathe away.
It is an image, I would so love to capture.
I awoke, one morning, to her outside my window, such a wonderful sight to behold.
She follows us, as we make our way back to her daughter, but stops on the terrace above and watches us, as we lay out the canar for her. She is even more magnificent looking, on the terrace above, watching over us.
Her daughter is also beautiful, she is fully brown and more timid. The people who claim ownership over her, do not treat her well. But she has grown used to us and now we can pet her and sing to her and she calls out to me whenever I pass by.
I have always loved horses, but it is only in the last few years that I have gotten to spend time with them. And I am so grateful that I get to have this experience now. To live amongst them and the wonderful donkey. It brings me so much joy to see my girls interact with them and them with my girls.
I have dreams of taking them with me when I leave here, rescuing them and giving them the life that they deserve. But if I take them, they will only be replaced and the cycle continues. It's hard to know what to do, but for now at least they are here and I can help to look after them.
