Carbohydrates That provide ATP to our bodies
How are you doing? Guys, today we are going to look at the composition of carbohydrates which is one of nutrients in our daily food.
Carbohydrates are the organic compounds that provide energy to our biological systems in the form of ATP. They are composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen elements in the ratio 1:2:1 that is why they are often referred as to hydrated carbons. The above mentioned elements in return combine to form carbon group, hydroxyl group and ketone or aldehyde group, later these groups join to form glucose or sugar (saccharide) which is the basic unit of carbohydrates (Monomer). The chemical formulae of sugar are C6H12O6, Many sugars bind together to form polysaccharide or polymers and these polymers are called carbohydrates. In plants carbohydrates are known as Starch and Cellulose and in animals they are called glycogen, the major source of carbohydrates is plants, they are synthesized by the plants with the help of photosynthesis.
I think that is enough for today and tomorrow we will talk about the types of carbohydrates found in organisms.
