Love the idea of this project and the community, here's a original painting i made as my contribution to the project.
Edit: thanks to for the feedback. this artwork is digital and was started from scratch, i used photoshop to create this image and i based the style off of jeremy manns cityscape paintings.
Process
- I first gathered reference of new york city streets and artworks which would inspire the feel of the image.
- Once i had visual reference i started drawing in rough linework in order to setup the composition.
- After the linework was in place, i used a perspective gride and refined the linework till it looked correct in perspective.
- With the hard stuff out of the way, I started to play with the colors and contrasting values by blocking in the larger masses.keeping jeremy manns loose style and simplistic color setups in mind i tried to create the same mood and tone.
- finally with all the larger masses in place i added in the smaller details (People, Lights, Rain etc) fleshed out the buildings and finished up the piece.
Sorry for the brief overview of the process, however i hope to post more in depth content on how i create my images in the future. If anyone has any specific questions or want some tips on creating cityscapes please feel free to contact me.Im no expert but ill help where i can :)
