I first discovered Anime or Japanese Animation, when I was a freshman in high school. I was homesick and wanted to watch something and came across Sailor Moon. I was hooked and introduced my friends to it. At the time it was hard to be able to get anything on like comics, videos, art, games, and merchandise. I used to hang out at a local comic book and game shop told them that they should get some if they are able. They got everything they could get their hands on.
Anime and Manga (the comic books from Japan) is something that even now I still watch and read. I’ve even gotten my daughter into some of the older Animes that are more her age. Her favorites are Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura. My all-time favorite is Fushigi Yugi for Anime. I feel that the stories that are made for Anime are different and no subject is taboo. They have so many different genres to choose from. I love the art and the stories I guess that is one of the reasons that I’m still drawn to it.
In my own writing, it has made me think of my stories differently. I think being a fan of Anime has helped my writing. Sometimes when I get stuck I think of how it would be done in a different setting or if it was something that I was watching how would I want it to play out.
Do you like Anime? If you do what are your favorite ones? I’d love to know and share with you.
May your stars shine brightly on you.
