In the mystical realm of Earth Land, magic exists at the core of everyday life for its inhabitants, from transportation to utilities and everything in between. However, even with all its benefits, magic can also be used for great evil; therefore, to prevent dark forces from upsetting the natural order of things, there exists a system of magical guilds in the Kingdom of Fiore. Under the command of their respective guild masters, these guilds are made up of witches and wizards who take on various job requests to earn fame and fortune. One particular guild stands high above the rest in both strength and spirit, and its name is Fairy Tail.

About
Fairy Tail is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiro Mashima. It was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Magazine from August 2006 to July 26, 2017. The third season of it's anime series is scheduled to air this 2018.
Thoughts
Fairy Tail is with no doubt one of the most popular manga/anime ever. I don't know why, but a lot of people seem to love this series. Probably because of how the characters are drawn (I mean you do see that there are just too much skin showing off right? ) or maybe due to the familiarity and the simplicity of the series. I don't know, but it's almost always on someone's top 5 anime to watch. Now I am not saying that Fairy Tail is bad, it's just that there is nothing special about it except maybe it's great art and smooth animation.
My issues with Fairy Tail:
Power of Friendship
While the sudden power up of main characters in anime is pretty common. Fairy Tail brings it out to an annoying level. Almost all of the issues are resolved with just a long speech about how Friends and Nakamas are important. I mean, we are introduced to a supposedly the strongest and the most threatening villains during that time and all the good guys do is just rant and yell about the power of friendship to get a huge power up? What the heck right?
Lack of Character Development
There are just too many characters in this show that it is understandable that side characters are not given decent backstories and therefore not given a chance to develop. The problem however, is that even with repetitive flashbacks and recaps, the main characters remain stagnant. They are still the same since the show started. I'm not saying that I am expecting them to change, their personalities are their charm, however I expect a little maturity and dependability from them. Almost all of them relies on Natsu too much, he's not even an S-class mage. There are a lot off stronger mages than him and yet they rely on him too much. Why? Because his the main character? I believe only Lucy got a decent development in this series.
Story
Even with a lot of arcs, Fairy Tail can be summarized as follows:
A strong and threatening villain appears.
Main Characters are beaten up badly by the villain
Main Characters rant about the power of friendship and nakamas
Main Characters gets a sudden power up
Main Characters predictably overpowers and defeats the villain
Back to #1.
That is how predictable and simple Fairy Tail is.
So, is Fairy Tail worth watching?
If you are reading this, then that means that you probably have too much time to waste. I mean why would you be browsing the anime tag here on SteemIt. So if you haven't watched it, then do so. It's a great way to kill some time. Even if it's too cliche and too predictable it still is fun to watch. The animation is great even the music is good.
