Attack on Titan Season 2 Review Episode 7: Close Combat
Spoiler Warning!
Spoiler Warning!
Spoiler Warning!
This is a warning that if you are not caught up to this point (Season 2, Episode 7), please do not read any further.
Seriously, just stop reading.
Please. Just. Stop. Reading.
Ok, so now that the spoiler warning is out of the way, let’s talk about how the list of known titan shifters keeps growing by leaps and bounds this season. Remember when we thought Eren was the only one and would help save humanity? And then we thought maybe Annie was the only other one after last season? Ha.
A few episodes back, everyone’s favorite overprotective tall girl with freckles, Ymir, revealed that she was also a titan shifter in order to save everyone else in that castle. There was no way she was gonna let little angel Christa get hurt, so she did what she had to do to save her and the rest of them, getting injured in the process.
In the last episode Warrior, Reiner kind of nonchalantly starts talking to Eren how he and cinnamon roll Bertholdt are freaking titan shifters, not to mention the one’s responsible for the destruction of the wall and the death of thousands. Little Bertie is not so innocent now, is he?

And let’s not forget Reiner, who’s been given everyone shit from the beginning, is the freaking armored titan. He then has the balls to be like, “Oh BTW Eren, me and Bertie here are titans that are totally responsible for the death of thousands of people, including your mother, so come with us so we can talk about it.”

After Eren refuses to go with them, (honestly, who would want to) Mikasa switches into protect-Eren-at-all-costs mode and tries to kill the two, only prompting them to shift into their titan forms. Titan Reiner then attempts to abduct Eren, who shifts into his titan form in response to usher in the first titan vs. titan fight this season.
We’re pretty much left at the end of the episode in the middle of the titan battle, but not before Eren starts hulking out, fueled by his hatred of Reiner and Bertholdt and titans in general.
Now that we know Bertie and Reiner are both titan shifters, can we please talk about how they were just going to let everyone else die in that castle and let Ymir go down trying to save them? I mean, c’mon dudes, you literally revealed your secret like 12 hours later, so you were just going to let Ymir go down in a blaze of glory to protect your secret for another few hours?
There you have it folks. We have 3 new known titan shifters so far this season, and I think more are on the way. Please drop your thoughts, predictions or other things you want to talk about! Just be respectful of spoilers and only discuss things through episode 7 Close Combat. I will make another post at the end of this season so all things can be taken into account.
Bonus Thought
I thought it was adorable when Zoe totally fangirled over talking to Eren in his titan form.
