Hello, fellow steemians. I was watching the new trailer for the upcoming film VENOM and something felt off to me when Venom started to form blades. From what I've seen and heard about Venom, this seemed to be an unusual way for him to attack people, (I used to think that he would use his overwhelming strength, claws, teeth, and goo to overpower or consume his enemies). There was also another scene in the trailer that had me scratching my head, in order to talk to Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy), Venom separates from his body and has him look into his eyes. These are both very similar to how the anime Parasyte has a symbiotic duo where one lives as a part of the other, the main difference being that the one that gives the "superpowers" is only on the right hand, and can shapeshift into anything it wants to.
While I was researching this, I saw that there was another symbiote that did use blades called Carnage.
However, there was still something off with how Carnage would use his blades compared to how they would be used in the trailer.
As you can see the blades Carnage would use are more fluid, whereas the ones in the trailer are solid, and fully connected to the body. They also don't have his tentacles crawling all over the screen in the trailer. There's much more of a parallel to the blades used in Parasyte.
It's possible that the differences are just due to changes that are going to be made in the finished movie, however the rest of the film looks finished, at least in my opinion. Some of you readers might say that since Venom is an old comic book character that this property might've ripped it off first, and you might site sources that say that Venom debuted in 1984, while the Parasyte manga came out in 1988, however, in 1984 Venom was just a black suit for spiderman. It wasn't until 1988, the same year the Parasyte manga came out, that Venom was introduced as the Venom seen in the trailer.
So what are your thoughts on this? Is Venom ripping off Parasyte? Is this all just a coincidence? Could Carnage be making an appearance in this film? Leave your comment's below
