An ankle joint that connects the foot to our lower leg. A twisting motion unnaturally can cause injury to the ligaments or tendons of the ankle. A connection of ligaments between the bones of the ankle is injured when more than normal stretching force is applied to them. In my case, I was playing basketball earlier today and landed my right foot to an opponent's feet. Ouch!
Yes, it was painful, even though this is a mild one. I had worst, several incidents happened on both of my feet. My price for loving the game! LOL
What to do?
- Rest (I don't think you have a choice, haha)
- Ice the ankle for 20 to 30 minutes for like 2 days, every 3 hours
- Wrap the ankle using a stretchable or elastic bandage but not too tight
- Raise the ankle higher than your heart when sleeping or when you're lying down
NOTE: For severe pain and swelling, looks deformed and the color looks really bad - go to the nearest hospital/emergency room.
