#OpDeathEaters A TechCrunch-commissioned report finds damning evidence
It is easy to find pictures of illegal exploitation of children on the Microsoft Bing search engine. But even more alarming is that Bing will suggest keywords and associated images that provide pedophiles with more child pornography. A report from the online security start-up AntiToxin is alarming.
[WARNING: Do not search for the terms discussed in this article on Bing or elsewhere as you be committing a crime. AntiToxin is supervised by legal counsel and works in conjunction with authorities. No illegal imagery is contained in this article, and it has been redacted with red boxes here and inside AntiToxin’s report.]
A report commissioned by TechCrunch reveals how Microsoft Bing not only shows child pornography in its search results, but suggests it through keyword recommendations and related images features.TechCrunch has instructed AntiToxin to investigate the Bing problem.
The searches were done on the desktop version of Bing with the option "Secure Search" disabled. AntiToxin was created last year to develop technologies that protect networks against bullying, predators and other forms of violence.
The evidence shows a massive failure on Microsoft’s part to adequately police its Bing search engine and to prevent its suggested searches and images from assisting pedophiles. There’s no excuse for a company like Microsoft, which earned $8.8 billion in profit last quarter, to be underfunding safety measures.
Zohar Levkovitz, CEO of AntiToxin, said:
"We should expect responsible technology companies to double, if not triple, not to add toxicity to an already dangerous online environment for children"

TechCrunch provided Microsoft with a complete list of problematic search queries. Jordi Ribas, Microsoft's senior vice president for Bing said:
"These results were clearly unacceptable under our standards and policies and we appreciate that TechCrunch informs us. We took immediate action to eliminate them, but we also want to prevent any other similar violations in the future. We focus on learning from this experience to be able to make any other necessary improvements."
Microsoft claims to have a technical team to solve problems However, AntiToxin found that while some search terms in its report are now properly banned or cleaned, others still surface and contain illegal content. The company announced that it was modifying its Bing signaling options to include a broader set of user categories that could be flagged, including "child sexual abuse." This option should have been one of the security priorities on the internet.
The problem of child pornography Bing is another example of companies refusing to adequately reinvest the profits they earn to ensure the safety of their own customers and society in general. These companies must protect us from the dangers they have triggered.
