So I don't know about some of you but I'm getting a real Destiny/Halo vibe off of this Anthem game.
If you don't know what destiny is, it is an online first person shooter made by the developers at Bungie. I've played the first one and some of the second one. Some of the things you can do consist of running missions to playing the story line or maybe meeting up with a buddy to do those things together in an online open world.
Now Halo is different than destiny, instead of it being a strictly online platform, in Halo there is a main objective or campaign if you will. Whether that be destroying the Covenant or wrecking some Promethians to smashing the bodies of fallen comrads who have been consumed by the Flood. Don't get me wrong, there is an online mode for Halo but it's more of a run and gun, first person or team to reach a certain amount of points wins.
Anthem is a new game being developed by Bioware set to be released on February 22, 2019. As of right now if you've pre-ordered the game (which I have not) you can play a short demo of the game. I've only seen some game play but to me it was enough to get the vibe that I am. Robotic mech suits with rocket boosters on your back. Looks a little like Halo to me. And the "embers" that you find when destroying enemies. Sounds a lot like Destiny "engrams" to me. And did I mention it's an open world online game?
I don't know why this rubs me the wrong way but it does. When I first heard of Anthem I was so stoked to play it. But the more we got to see of it the more disappointed I got. I was expecting something different. I wanted something new. I'll probably still play it and tell you guys about my experience with it eventually. Until then I'm signing off. Take it easy.
