One of the most popular apps for smartphone users is 'Truecaller'. The popular app is already used by a large number of smartphone users, especially to know who has already called the phone from an unknown number. Even if a number is not stored on the mobile, it is very easy for the user to know who made the call and his identity which is often seen with pictures. Besides, annoying call blocking, SMS blocking facilities are constantly increasing the number of users of 'Truecaller'.
However, TrueClar has recently been accused of reading important SMS messages to users. Truecaller has also been accused of stealing information, especially from users who exchange money-lending SMS. As a result, companies that lend money are getting the opportunity to interact with the user without their knowledge.
Such allegations arose only after a recent problem was reported by a TruCaller app. Sweden-based Caller ID, a software developer named Nemo, has sued the Caller ID app. According to the complaint, Truecaller is transferring SMS information to users on the phone using a third party software development kit (SDKS). Particularly in this case, Truecaller is collecting the words or information related to it. Among these are Salary, Credit, Debit, Bonus, Check, Premium, Insurance, Uber, Airbnb, etc. The third party is more interested in such information. Besides, Truecaller has been keeping track of the type of SMS that lenders regularly send to EMI.
Explaining the whole matter, Nemo said that the Frequently Answered Considerations (FAKS) of Truecaller states that a user can analyze the financial information of a user using the Banking tab on Truecaller. However, it is subject to the user's permission. Now not all users of Truecal are collecting such information.
We have given users the chance to apply for a loan if they want to apply for help from the Banking tab to analyze all the issues, said the Truecaller Authority. However, it is subject to full users' permission and subject to customer consent after sending an SMS message. Beyond this, there is no point in stealing customer information, it is said that all other work is in accordance with our policies.
However, Trukler mentioned several things in his policy. So that it is written, Truecaller collects the metadata of all incoming and outgoing calls and SMS from users. According to data protection experts, since these apps can be used for free, these apps save customers personal information which is subsequently sold to different organizations without the user's knowledge. In this case only the customer can provide his / her own information security only if they wish.
