... our first road trip wherein we booked a van as joiners. Local travel agencies have this type of packages to attract more individuals to see the various places in the country. I've always wanted to go see Sagada, but in the past, I could only find packages for a minimum of six people. We were only two. It's a good thing that I was able to find a local travel agent that offers such a good package. It's an all-nighter on the road on a van. It was pretty crazy as we had to sleep on the van and find our own comfort. There were a number of stopovers, mostly for restroom break and some snacks for those who got hungry along the way. We had to make sure we had enough sleep as we reached the destination in the morning and the tour started then. It wouldn't be until late afternoon of that day when you would get to rest and check into your accommodation.
The four memorable places that must not be missed: Sumaguing Cave, Bomod-ok Falls, Echo Trail & Hanging Coffins, and Kiltepan for sunrise viewing. Each of these places brings back nice memories. I did get a slight knee injury at Sumaguing Cave, but it turned out to be quite an experience of a lifetime. It's not for the weak-hearted.
One has to have a lot of stamina for the Echo Trail & Hanging Coffins. It's a bit of a long walk, but otherwise, there's an easy path to follow. I did find the trek to Bomod-ok Falls really challenging. I almost ran out of breath trying to catch up with the rest of the group. The trek to Kiltepan started sometime before sunrise. We even got a glimpse of the moon that time. Then, we needed to find a nice spot as there were lots of other folks waiting for the sunrise view. This was the last morning we were in Sagada, as we headed to Baguio after viewing the sunrise.
For me, travel is food for the soul. It's a way to keep growing as a person. There's much to be seen and visited locally and internationally. I'm just grateful for my daughter, who's also my travel buddy.
Till the next adventure...
