How to build a community

Last year I spent quite a lot of time on Instagram, about 10 to 12 hours a day. I listened to a lot of advice from social media experts like Torben Platzer or Gary Vee but most of all Gary Vee.

So I reinvented myself and created my own content. But no matter if a content is good or bad you need viewers no matter if you are a lover or a hater. So I started to look for users under hashtags who were interested in the topic of my content, comment their pictures honestly and sincerely.

Of course I also searched for successful people in my field and wrote their followers to help them. Someone with 300 thousand followers can't possibly help all his followers personally. So I tried to build up trust through DM's.

I commented on every comment under my contributions back but also so that a new comment comes again so that more comments were created. This was a tactic or is still so that the Insta algorithm rewards you with reach.

After a while with every day content in my stories a small community slowly came into being especially because I always deleted my followers who were not interested in my content. I put loyal followers in an Insta group so that they could get to know each other and support my new contributions.

For a while that worked well, the problem with it was just Instagram and its shitty algorithm & its shadow ban. But the principle I followed last year works everywhere.

Conclusion:

Post actively (3 times a week, outside Instagram you can do more)

Reply to each comment

Find your target group and interact with them

Be a part of other communities

Become personal with your followers or users and write with them in DM's
