I had many in my live.
Some lived a long life others died early or even in a terrible way.
My first pet was a dog.
My mother put him asleep because people said he bit them.
The dog was fed with a bottle, very small and I was sick in bed he was given to me. I still see it in the drawer next to my bed. His name was Roetje. Roetje became huge. I believe my mother thought it was something like a puddle. She cut his hair the same way for a period.
He loved to come along in the car.
So he was happy at the day he jumped into the car and the vet killed a healthy, good dog because humans thought it was funny to throw stones at him and were standing barking like sick dogs behind our gate. Roetje had to pay for that.
A dog, no pet, is allowed to be animal. Humans expect them to be what they like them to be. Animal behavior is not tolerated.
The streets are full, animal shelters are filled with unwanted pets, people keep killing animals and so do vets. It all has nothing to do with the circle of life, survival of the fittest but with the temporary greed of humans to have or breed something "special".
Roetje was my first pup and the one on the picture is my last. Here it is playing underneath the almond tree while I hung the laundry outside
