The European aerospace company Airbus on behalf of the German Aerospace center and the US company IBM - ISS Watson AI (IBM’s artificial intelligence technology)- developed a floating robot head called Crew Interactive Mobile Companion AKA CIMON that is an AI-based robot assistant for astronauts. It's main role as flight assistance system is directed to help astronauts aboard the International Space Station.
The weight of the robot "Cimon" about 5 kilograms, circular shape and the middle screen with human features, and is equipped with cameras and a loudspeaker to communicate with astronauts and provide information and support them as if a real individual of them,it is expected to join the International Space Station in June next It remains there until October 2018.
Yet it's not the first robot since 2011 NASA sent a humanoid robot named Robonaut to perform simple tasks.
