Based on data released by World Resource Insitute (WRI) based in Washington DC, Indonesia is the world's sixth largest carbon emission contributor. This is certainly a special concern both from inside and outside the country because if this is not handled it will add severe environmental damage in the future. As reported by Daily Mail (3/10/2014), WRI stated that the ranking of Indonesia in the contributor of carbon emissions (CO2) is under China, USA, European Union, India and Russia. While the total production of carbon emissions produced by Indonesia is 2.05 billion tons.
WRI released a report on carbon dioxide emissions of countries in the world from 1850 to 2011 through an interactive map. From this interactive map it appears that the world's greenhouse gas emissions have undergone drastic changes over the last 160 years. If in the 1990s about 2/3 of carbon dioxide emissions came from developed countries, but in 2011, carbon emissions produced by developing countries increased dramatically, including Indonesia and exceeded the production of carbon emissions from the countries advanced..
