The roman-catholic basilica of Sagrada Familia (“Holy Family”) is considered the master-piece of Catalan architect Antoní Gaudí.
This ongoing piece of art is under construction since 1882, the then 30-year old Gaudí already knew that it would not be finished during his life-time.
It is supposed to be completed on the 100th anniversary of the architect’s death in 2026.
Although not finished, the church is already a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This spectacular cathedral attracts as many as 2.8 million visitors per year.
My Tips:
1.) I recommend visiting during sunset time when the beautiful golden light reflecting from countless stained glass windows. You will be amazed by the magic atmosphere and light show created inside..
2.) Buy tickets in advance online to avoid long queues.
In 2016 when I visited Barcelona I was lucky to get a great deal on an AirBnb with perfect balcony offering view of Sagrada. It was one of the best AirBnb stays so far :)
Stay awesome and Steem on!
