Hi there my Steemit friends and followers!
Today, I am going to compete in the #architecturalphotography contest hosted by as I would like to show you what probably is the most picturesque and adorable church I have ever seen on my travels.
However, despite the indisputable beauty and charm of the church, there is actually little information about it on the internet. I wanted to provide you with some background info as I usually do but I did not really find much about this impressive piece of architecture so here is what I remember or managed to translate from Spanish.
Known as Iglesia de Santiago Apostol in Spanish, the church is located on a small secluded square in Barrio de Santiago, a neighborhood in Merida, the largest city of the Yucatan Peninsula. The church was finished in 1637 and it is lavishly decorated both from the outside and the inside too.
I did´t find anything about the belfry but to me, it´s the amazing belfry what makes this church so appealing and captivating. I know this is a long shot but if anyone happens to know anything about this church, I will be happy to read that in the comments below ;)
