Six minarets, four cupolas and three domes make the University of Tampa one of the most beautiful structures in the downtown area. What began as The Tampa Bay Hotel, built by Henry B. Plant beginning back in 1888 is now one of the most iconic symbols of Tampa. Besides the Moorish architecture, the structure also features ornate Victorian gingerbread.
One of my cousins was married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tampa (also full of picturesque details and predominantly a Romanesque structure) and took a white horse-drawn carriage to her reception on the veranda here. I was not quite a teenager but that was the stuff that dream weddings are made of. I fell in love with it way back then.
