This artwork was done in celebration of my 5th year as an expat in Dubai. I woke up early on a weekend, took the metro from end to end, had a good look at the city and how much it has changed since I first came here. I got home late in the afternoon and was just sitting on my bed when I noticed the white dream catcher hanging at the back of my door - a gift from one of my old colleagues. I had a sudden urge to paint so I dove for my supplies.

“Popularly known as good luck charms, a traditional dream catcher was intended to protect the sleeping individual from negative dreams, while letting positive dreams through.”

I guess #MyDubai is sort of a dream-catcher for me. She has brought me all sorts of luck... and although I still have negative dreams and negative things passing through from time to time, I think it’s safe to say I’ve collected more positive ones along the way. Happy anniversary to myself and to the city that has changed me in more ways I could ever imagine; may I continue to dream good dreams and work hard to achieve them.
