"Perhaps it is time for sandstorms, to fly through the clouds, to paint with smoke; time to see, time to try another beat, to send everything to hell; time to collapse, to stop avoiding looks, time to make time. Perhaps it's time to change."
Being accepted in AsyncArt represented for me one of the most wonderful things in my journey as an artist. The possibilities offered by the platform are great.
According to their website:
Async Art is a new art movement built on the blockchain. Create, collect, and trade programmable art: digital paintings split into "Layers", which you can use to affect the overall image.
Art that can evolve over time, react to its owners, or follow a stock price is now all possible with programmable art.
It is a platform that allows you to create layers in your works, giving the possibility of creating a work that is at the same time many.
For those of us who like to tell stories, AsyncArt is the perfect tool. Knowing that I can create a story that can be changed just by changing the layers allows me to create a bond with my collector beyond any buying-selling relationship. My collector is also a co-writer of this work, his interaction with it, changing the layers and modifying the final appearance of it is
This is how I started working on my genesis piece in AsyncArt.
What time is it? It consists of 3 layers with 3 states each, and 27 combination possibilities. She is about our perception of time and the decisions we make.
The first layer is called the orbit, and it consists of three states: Calendar Sheets, Eyes, and Gears.
These elements orbiting around our broken subject represent those external things that we must face, and that in some way have modified our perception of time, and have made us make decisions: "to stop avoiding looks, time to make time. Perhaps it's time to change." Don't you think that time moves particularly slowly when we avoid those looks that make us uncomfortable? Do some days feel longer than others? Sometimes it's time to change.
The second layer is called Time, and it is our way of measuring time and consists of three states: hourglass, sundial, and a stopwatch.
The hourglass has eyes inside, "...time to see". The Sundial has a finger that projects its shadow to tell the time: "to send everything to hell", and the stopwatch with an anatomical heart in the center represents changing feelings, starting to feel new things: "time to try another beat".
The third layer is called Girl and Background, and it is the environment in which we find ourselves, with certain characteristics that can be given by time or by the decisions we make.
Girl with Clouds refers to the decisions that free us: "... to fly through the clouds".
Girl with a sandstorm refers to decisions that may be confusing, that do not allow us to see well into the future: "Perhaps it is time for sandstorms"
Girl with smoke are those ephemeral things: "...to paint with smoke"
What is your favorite way to measure time?
This work was collected by Kaprekar Punk, who's been a great collector and supporter.
