Hi guys, just wanted to share a piece of work and see what kind of response it receives. I'm really excited about what steemit can do for artists like me in terms of promotion and networking. It allows people to share ideas and advice about many different topics...so how will this go with submitting art and asking for a critical response ?
The concept behind this piece derives from looking at an idea put forward to children as soon as they begin to gain an understanding of the world around them..the idea of good and bad.
An idea played out many times in children's books, TV and cinema that we grow up watching that informs our opinions on what is good or bad. Most iconically known is Disney. With the use of popart and streetart style imagery I aim to highlight this juxtaposition of good and bad with the example of a president/prime minister (in this case Trump) and how children are told to admire and aim to be like them. At first what seems nice can become to seem quite sinister, much like the issues faced when a politician takes a populist stance, what once felt positive and would help you begins to fade and reality begins to set back in and the world hasn't changed and you haven't been helped.
Background imagery consists of North Korean nukes, ak-47s and doomsday clock with dollar sign.
My work is pasted onto canvases and also pasted around cities across the UK.
[My aim is not offend but allow people to see my view of the world and my attempts at showing them my opinions. I wish to share these ideas and hope to hear from people about how they feel.]
