Birth of the Minotaur; Minos (son of Zeus) went in search of help from the god Poseidon, to get his early proclamation as king after the death of the king of Crete, Asterion, who had raised him.
Poseidon, raised from the sea a white bull which Minos promised to sacrifice in his name. However, enthralled by the qualities of the bull, Minos decided to hide it among his flock and sacrifice another bull mistakenly thinking that Poseidon would not notice the change. The god of the ocean, when he found out, full of anger, caused Pasiphae, wife of Minos, to uncontrollably desire the white bull and with the help of Daedalus, who created a wooden cow covered in real cowhide, he managed to mate with the bull getting pregnant.
