This year summer we made a trip from Berlin to Denmark.
On our way we stopped for one night in Lübeck. If you are interested in history, you should see the Hansemuseum, which gives you an overlook on the history of the Freie Hansestädte.

Next day, we drove to Puttgarden, which is on the island of Fehmarn to take a ferry to Rødby, Denmark.

We had an appartement on Nørrebrogade, between Peblinge Sø / Sortedams Sø and the Assistens Kirkegård.
In that area we enjoyed the restaurant scene, had a couple of beers at Mikkeller & Friends on Stefansgade. For beer lovers, a must to go place.
If you are into danish painters around 1900, there is a place you will find them. Die Hirschsprungske Sammlung on Stockholmsgade. There are several paintings of the fabulous artist Vilhelm Hammershoi, beside others that were supported and collected by Heinrich Hirschsprung, who was a tobacco manufacturer.

One day, I walked alone and found a piano store on Bregade 6. http://www.phpianos.com/
There was an original of the Poul Henningsen piano from 1933. Amazing, stylish, aesthetics. An eye catcher, that made me sat down and play the piano with a completely new feeling for music. Have a look, what you see in the picture is a new instrument done by Blüthner, Leipzig, based on Paul Henningsen´s original design.
The other day, we drove to Lousiana. It is half an hour North of Kopenhagen by car, or train. This place by itself, without the art is worth a trip. Garden in beautiful landscape, overlooking the Nivå Bugt. When you love the MOMA in NY, this is the place to go in Europe. https://en.louisiana.dk/ You should also ckeck their channel website. Artists are showing their work and describe what and why they do what they do. http://channel.louisiana.dk/

Our last destination was Middlefart, which is on the island Fyn, close to the peninsula of Denmark.
What to do there? Well, it is a quite small town, but you should definitely visit the Museum of Ceramic Arts.
You will find Royal Copenhagen porcelain, also a huge collection of experimental work of contemporary artists.
The original building of the museum is in a beautiful old villa. A new building of 1,500 square shows clay, above and below ground level. The building is made of wood and clay. The ceramic art is surrounded by its own material.
http://claymuseum.dk/english/ What impressed me the most, was the art of Hans and Birgitte Börjeson. Have a look.
So, if you are interested in art, good food, fabulous beers and pianos, you should make it to Denmark.
