Hive account@web-gnar: Today's ARTzone winner goes to an Indonesian Steemian who has documented a rare old woman who hand weaves rugs using dyed grass, or rafia. This is really fascinating to me because I have worked with rafia at my day job fabricating meticulous works of art. The rafia I use at work is plastic, and like the texture of a shopping bag, is dyed and produced in New York. It is really cool to see authentic rafia, where REAL grass is dyed such a strong color. Click on the Post to look at the other images of the woman working on the rugs. Look at the pattern on the rug. Fascinating, time consuming craftwork. After translating the page, I read that the woman is rare to these villages not many people still know the craft. The works are more sacred being hand made, as a human's consciousness went into the work and all the things that go along with being alive... has a certain human condition feel to it.

Hive account@web-gnar:Look at this Outsider drawing of a strange "aberration" to quote the post lol. A strange baboon with reptilian scales. This is a picture of a two sided monster, with an evil dark side and a light good side. the light side does not have reptilian scales... go figure. They both look strangely happy though, in a creepy way lol. The Steemian hopes to scare us with this monster and he is successful. :)

Hive account@web-gnar: I'm feeling these pencil drawing tonight. Here is a classic illustration of deadpool and wolverine. I don't normally care for cartoony style drawings, and this one slipped through the cracks because of the interesting mark-making. The drawing makes drawing look like fun, and that is a feeling that has been successfully communicated to me through this work, thereby earning it an honorable upvote.

Hive account@web-gnar: Another pencil drawing from a Steemian who's blog post I need to translate with Google Chrome. Not too sure what book the image is supposed to be from... I thought it looked like that pokeman gyrados but was happy to notice that it was not, but maybe some other kind of Hydra being from maybe an old greek legend. Again, I like the mark-making of the graphite and it has a visceral feel to it, bringing the power to the people.

I liked this one because its a simpler composition than the artist usually shows... drawing very busy abstract compositions using ALL of the colors. , this one however, the artist restricted her palette, using not more than ten colors, make a successful piece here tonight, earning herself an upvote.
