안녕하세요 Hash 입니다. 지난번 포스팅 기억하시나요?

교통사고를 당해 무일푼이 되어 근근히 연명하던 저를 도와주기 위해 일부러 와이너리에 고용한 론 아저씨, 그리고 아저씨에게 카리뷰 와이너리를 그림으로 옮겨 감사의 마음을 표현했었죠. 덴마크에서도 봉사활동과 와이너리 일을 마치고 퍼스 시티로 돌아와 다른 일을 하기 시작했습니다.

그런데 누군가에게 베풀면 자기에게도 좋은일이 생긴다지요?
정성들여 감사의 마음을 표현한 그림을 보고는, 자기 가게도 그려달라고 연락온 누군가가 있었습니다 ^^ 호주에서의 첫 프리랜서 일이네요!

의뢰자를 만나고 엄청나게 긴장한 기억이 납니다.
때가 거의 10년전 이었으니, 영어도 이제 막 걸음마 수준일 때였지요. 한국에서 프리랜서로 10년간 넘게 일했었지만, 다른 나라의 언어를 쓰며 문화가 다른 나라에 오니 모든게 리셋된 느낌입니다. 게다가 의뢰자가 아일랜드 분이였으니 엑센트도 있어서 전화통화로 일 진행은 거의 불가능한 수준 이였죠 :)

So yes, this is my first freelance job in AU. I was absolutely nervous even I have more than 10 years of freelance experience back in my home country. It was a long a times go when I did not speak English well - the language barrier made me DUMB - I felt like I'm level 1 from level 50 as a stranger in an RPG game. You may not understand how it feels if you are the lucky guy who was born in an English speaking country. However, It was really good time and the meeting finished really well.

탈틴 카페의 전경입니다. 퍼스시내에 위치한 이 카페는 아케이드 건물에 바로 붙어있습니다. 의뢰인분이 카페 커피를 맛보라며 커피를 주셨는데 너무 긴장에서 커피가 코로넘어가는지 귀로넘어가는지 맛도 기억안납니다.

1차 스케치를 그려보았습니다. 아저씨가 각도가 너무 정면이고, 카페 이름이 조금 크게보였으면 좋겠다고 하는군요.

First sketch. The client requested a couple of changing things. He wanted to change the angle of the view and make the cafe's entry bigger.

음... 바로 이각도였는데, 이 사진을 바탕으로 조금 사이드에서 보는 앵글을 그려봅니다.

2차 스케치. 싹다 새로그렷어요. 탈틴 카페의 입구가 주인공이 되도록하고, 나무는 거들어 줄뿐으로. 다행히 2차 스케치는 아저씨가 마음에 들어하셔서 이것으로 색칠을 시작합니다 ^^

완성입니다 ^^ 오랜시간을 들여 벽돌하나하나 다른 색으로 꼼꼼하게 칠해 완성시켰어요. 아저씨가 엄청 맘에 들어하셔서 기뻣습니다. 일이끝나고도 도와주고 싶다며 신문에 그림주문 광고도 내준다고 하던 참 고마운 아저씨 였습니다. 덴마크에서 만난 론아저씨... 론아저씨에 보답하려던 나.... 새로운 의뢰주 아저씨.... 역시 좋은것들은 돌고도는것 같습니다. 이 그림을 그리고 퍼스를 떠난지 오랜시간이 지났는데 가게에 액자를해서 오랜동안 걸려있었다는 그림 이야기 입니다. 혹 퍼스에 거주하고 계시는분이 계신다면 찾아가 보시는것은 색다를것 같습니다 ^^

Finished it :) I focused on the detail, painted every single brick with different colors. The cafe's owner was very happy with my picture and I was happy too! It is always good that good things are coming when you are being nice to others... Ron tried to help me, I painted the winery picture to thanks to him, it makes me to have another chance to paint, and the cafe's owner is so happy... Such as a good Karma! This picture is for the cafe in Perth, WA, if you are living in Perth, it would be interesting to visit and find out the picture :)
