Holy cats guys thank you for my first hundred followers!
I'm so grateful that you guys cared enough to follow me. It honestly means so much. Especially when I think about how long it's taken me to start sharing my art, on-line or anywhere, just because I thought I wasn't good enough.
I've been COMPLETELY off-line for about 5 years now. And after moving to a new city and changing phone numbers half a dozen times, I had really isolated myself without realizing it at the time. Steemit has started helping me reconnect with people online. The fact that it's such a positive environment has been really wonderful for me personally, and I really can't thank you guys enough.
For making me happy I will share with you guys an art piece that also made me happy and hopefully make you happy too! Happy all around!
This piece is a mixed media painting with ink and acrylic. The majority is ink and the only acrylic ink you see is the block of yellow ( my favorite color lately) in the background.
Materials:
- Acrylic inks (I used Speedball brand for: black, blue, and red; and Liquitex for yellow and white)
- Liner brush size 0
- Dip pen (Or you could use whatever kind of pen you happen to be favoring)
- Acrylic paints (I used Applebarrel brand)
- Painters tape
If you guys follow me, you may have heard in my previous post that I learned the hard way that taping down your pieces that use a wet medium is important ... this was that hard lesson. Notice in the picture above that I'm working on this piece while still in the pad. This was a mistake. I should have taken it out and taped it to a hard surface, like a board. But hey, life is full of mistakes, and that's all good and well, I guess.
I'm a quick learner! From here I've taped it down and spontaneously decided to add a bit off a pop-art effect with a block of yellow.
I really liked how this piece turned out. I hope you liked seeing it too!
Again, thank all of my followers SO much for all of your comments and support (and even those just popping in to say hi)! It makes my day to hear from you guys. Take care!
