Work in progress, details from the space ceiling mural I am currently working on. It has 5 big parts, in total around 50 m2. There are almost 3 parts done.
The colors are strong and photographed with a bright light, the location will be used with very dimmed light, therefore the colors have to be done stronger, to be visible in very low light too.
The paint used are mostly normal tones, but also iridescent transparent paint by the great company Golden, there are also gold and silver colors for some of the stars. The effects created with them make the mural look different from every angle. It looks magical when one walks looking up because it changes. I wanted to make it a bit alive.
One of the most time consuming parts was covering with plastic the floor and the walls. Another annoying but very important part is the preparation of the wall with a thick layer of gesso. The protection of the ready mural with a varnish layer is also extremely important and time consuming.
I have worked so far for 9 days. On the 10th day, tomorrow the first 3 parts will be done. I guess it will take another 5-6 days for the last 2 ceiling parts.
The hardest part is the physical pain in the neck, spine and shoulders. The going up and down from the ladder is fine like a workout.
I really love big scale paintings and murals. I use the time also to learn listening to long audio books mostly about science and psychology.
A teapot with my favorite tea, and a pine tree candle give me the feeling of being home.
Next week I will bring my photo studio lights to take better photos and a short video.
There will be one more update from the final project.
With love, light and colorful smiles from Vienna.
