Of course (re)posting your own older work is not a problem, but general best practice here would be to note in that case where it was posted first. You will find a lot of funny little unwritten rules and idiosyncrasies of Steem, many of them as you noted stemming from the fact that we are talking about actual money when it comes to upvotes and flags (downvotes). There is a TON of plagiarism here of all varieties, so always good to see an awesome original content creator like yourself come on board! Good luck here!
