A year ago I came up with the idea of making an 80s cyberpunk short film.
The aim was to make it in truly Eighties spirit, therefore without using CGI but Practical Effects and Miniature Models.
The title of the film is "Attack of the Cyber Octopuses" and, of course, a lot of efforts were put on creating the Cyber Octopus itself.
Having experience with 3D software, I first designed it in 3D Studio Max, then print it at home with a cheap 3D printer. It was my very first attempt to create and print something similar, but I was lucky (or good) enough to get a cool result on my first try.
In January I launched a crowd funding campaign to shoot the short film and, by the end of February, I got 133% of the goal.
The Cyber Octopuses were moved using truly retro techniques, like stop-motion.
The film was done second half of July and the trailer got so far 30k+ organic views and great reviews.
You can watch it from here:
If you are interested on the film and the process to make it, you can get a BluRay (which contains also 30' of "Behind the Scenes" documentary and 25' of Bonus Features) or a Digital Download.
More info on this project coming soon!
