If you don't have a plan, you become part of somebody else's plan.
Terence McKenna
My interpretation
Everybody has a plan
Society has a plan, the government has a plan, Banks have a plan, wealthy people have a plan, so on and so forth. Everyone who has a considerable influence within our World has a Plan of Action.
When we are born into this world, we all get automatically inserted into other people's plans. Be it our parents, our culture or the large society into which we are born. But as we grow and develop more Awareness about ourselves and the world around us, we should understand the plans onto which we give our energy, and then choose which plans are worth promoting and which not.
Developing our own plan
Having a plan for yourself doesn't mean that you won't be a part of someone else's plan, but you will advance through other people plans and you will be working on achieving yours in the meantime. Having a plan means to understand that other people have plans, and that there are a lot of plans out there, so we should meet the people which have similar goals to ours, and join them, so that we may work together to the realization of our Hearth desires.
Not having a plan
If you don't have a plan, you will just get stuck in someone else's idea of how you should live your life, without finding your own way of living a happy life for yourself.
Earl Nightingale used this metaphor, which I find most beautiful:
Think of a ship with the complete voyage mapped out and planned. The captain and crew know exactly where the ship is going and how long it will take and it has a definite goal. And 9,999 times out of 10,000, it will get there.
Now let’s take another ship and just like the first and only let’s not put a crew on it, or a captain at the helm. Let’s give it no aiming point, no goal, and no destination. We just start the engines and let it go. I think you’ll agree that if it gets out of the harbor at all, it will either sink or wind up on some deserted beach and a derelict. It can’t go anyplace because it has no destination and no guidance.
That should help you understand the importance of having a Plan in your Life.
What do you think about having a Plan?
Let me know in the comments if you think I might have the wrong point of view regarding the whole thing, or if you think there's more to add to it. I'd like to discuss this topic further with you guys.
