You may not know, but there's a lot to see in Kansas. This, unfortunately, isn't part of the "good parts" but instead the vast majority of the things you see between cities is this:
It's beautiful and yet at the same time not. I painted this in spring, when everything was green, but these fields were from the fall. In the spring, much of the prairie we love is burnt with controlled fires, getting rid of all the pesky invasive trees that could overtake our rocky hills and cover our grazing areas with trees.
It's a fun time of year to have the skies filled with smoke, but it's good for the ground and the natural wildlife.
